How to play golf shot when ball is below feet?

When the ball is below your feet it is a challenging shot for most players. There is a difficulty maintaining the proper address position which often results in a low slice or worse, a topped shot. For the right-handed player with the ball below your feet on a sidehill lie it will tend to slice off to the right and, of course to the left with a left-handed player.

In this situation you have to bend, flexing your knees and tilting forward more from your hips than usual when addressing the ball and to make sure your weight stays on your feet and not on your toes.

The swing plane on a shot with the ball below your feet will tend to be more upright so every efforts should be made to swing as normally as possible concentrating on good balance and aim fairly far to the left compensating for the tendency to slice.  Take more club than you would normally from that distance.
